As per changes in tax schemes in Finance act 2017-18, linking your Aadhaar PAN linking (UID-PAN) to submit tax returns will b compulsory from July 1, 2017. As per a new revision to the bill, anyone who has a PAN number must produce their Aadhaar ID to the head DGIT (Income Tax Director General of the system). Now if you are not sure how to do Aadhaar PAN linking; you can use the e-system launched by the IT department. It is the simplest way to combine the two. Also, you do not even require to log in to the website to link your PAN card and Aadhaar number. ****This given steps will only be working if the details on the PAN card and the Aadhaar card are same. In case of any flaws, please upload a scan of your PAN card.****
Procedure to follow for Aadhaar PAN linking online:
click on the section on the left stating “Link Aadhaar new.”
Enter your Aadhaar number, PAN card number, name given in Aadhaar card, and complete the Captcha.
Then click link Aadhaar.
These steps must link your PAN and Aadhaar number, but if there is any difference in the details given by you, you will get an OTP to verify the linking process.
Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number & hit Save to proceed next.
You can also link the details after signing in to the IT Deptt. website.
Sign in as you commonly do and then hit Profile Settings in the menu.
Find “Link Aadhaar” Tab.
Type your Aadhaar and hit Save to continue.
That is all of it right now. The rule of combining Aadhaar and PAN is compulsory only if you intend to file tax returns on July 1 or later. Also, as per the Supreme Court verdict, those who do have not been assigned Aadhaar number yet need not push for it. This process is only for Aadhaar card holders. Apparently, this ruling came as a big comfort for those annoyed whether their PAN cards would become void if they do not link it with Aadhaar.
