The GOI has made it compulsory to link Aadhaar number with PAN (Permanent account number) card if you are going to file tax returns on July 1, 2017. In case you have lost your Aadhaar card, you need not to panic because you can now quickly get a fresh copy online. You just require knowing your UID. Also, you can quickly search that up online. The unique 12-digit identification number is now compulsory to have (as government dictated), as it works as an identification proof on most forms. Most government agencies ask for the UID these days. It is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on account of our government.
The difference between Aadhaar and other identification proofs is that unlike some other ID cards, it is in the digital form, and one can download it from UIDAI website. It will be as valid as an original one. So it does not matter whether you have lost your card and need a new one, or just want to have a digital copy, the official website (UIDAI) has you embraced.
Registering for Aadhaar number is free and so is the means to obtain a digital copy; just follow the steps here:
Your UID Number:
To get a copy of the Aadhaar, you should have your Enrolment ID or UID (Unique Identification) number. So it is recommended that if you already have an Adhaar, you should write down your number someplace. If you have lost your Adhaar somehow, then look for the registration form to check your Registration number. May be you can not get this number by above steps, do not worry at all. Follow these steps:
Open the website of UIDAI.
At the top of the screen, choose Adhaar number option.
Write your name (exactly as written on your Aadhaar card).
Now Type the email address/phone number that you used to enroll for Aadhaar number.
Enter the Security captcha Code.
Click on “Get OTP (One time Password).” UIDAI will send a password to your email address/mobile number. Enter this password where it is being asked.
Now Tap”Verify OTP.”
you will get your Aadhaar number registered mobile or via email.
Get your Aadhaar:
Once you have the number, use it to download a copy.
Go to the e-Aadhaar page on the website.
Enter your unique 12 digit number, name and the PIN code of your permanent address.
Verify the captcha.
Click Get OTP. UIDAI will send a password to your email address/mobile number once you click the pop-up.
Enter the password you received in the form next to entering OTP. Validate and Download.
You can now download your Adhaar card in password protected PDF file. PIN code of your residential address will be its password. Go on, print this file, and it is as legitimate as the real one.
